What Hosts Are Saying

Real feedback from people running Play Squares boards.

After years of using pen and paper, this was such a welcome upgrade. It was easy to set up and share for our Super Bowl party.

As a host, this saves so much time and eliminates manual errors. The interface is easy for players, and I'll use this for every event I host.

Even my older uncle had no issues picking squares. I felt confident sharing it with everyone, and it was completely worth the price.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is NFL squares different from Super Bowl squares?

NFL squares runs on the same grid and the same reverse score rule as Super Bowl squares, but you're not settling on one banner game for the whole year. You set up a board for whichever NFL matchup your group is watching, a Thursday night game or the full Sunday slate, and you can start a fresh one every single week of the season.

Can I run a new NFL squares board every week of the season?

Yes, and most hosts do exactly that instead of running one board all year. A One Month Pass or a One Year Pass unlocks unlimited boards, so you can set up a new grid for each week's matchup without paying per game, and players still join free.

What happens if an NFL game goes to overtime?

A regular-season NFL game gets one 10-minute overtime period, and the game is allowed to end in a tie if nobody breaks it in that time. Playoff games work differently and keep playing full overtime periods until somebody wins. Decide before kickoff whether your last prize pays the score at the end of regulation or the score once overtime wraps up. Play Squares defaults to paying the final score, overtime included, and our football squares rules guide walks through a real example.

What is the reverse score rule in NFL squares?

The reverse score rule pays a second winner whenever the final score's digits get reversed, so a 20 to 17 finish also pays out whoever holds the square for 7 and 0. It's a simple way to double the excitement on a lopsided week without changing anything else about how the board works, and you can turn it on for any board you create.

How much does it cost to run an NFL squares board?

Players always join free, and as the host, a One Game Pass covers a single week's matchup for $12.99, while a One Month Pass ($29.99) or a One Year Pass ($79.99) makes more sense once you're running a new board most weeks of the season.

Is NFL squares considered gambling?

No. Play Squares is built as a friendly game for a group of friends, family, or coworkers, not a sportsbook, and we never touch the payouts or prize pool ourselves; hosts manage that within their own group. Rules around pools and contests vary by state, so check your local laws and regulations before collecting any money, just to confirm what's allowed where you live.
