Yes. A quick sign-up lets you create boards, customize settings, and manage everything. Players join with the game link.
Sign up, create your board—March Madness is already selected—customize prize table, payment options, and rules, then share your game link or QR code. It takes under a minute. You can edit each game later if needed.
Players always join free — only the host buys a pass, and every pass is a one-time payment rather than a subscription. One Game Pass - $12.99 unlocks square selection for the single game on that board. One Month Pass - $29.99 unlocks square selection on every board you host for 30 days. One Year Pass - $79.99 unlocks square selection on every board you host for one full year.
Create your board first, then pick a pass when the app asks you to unlock it — from the Publish step of the setup checklist, or the first time you try to fill in squares on a locked board. Checkout runs through Stripe, and the pass applies as soon as the payment clears. A One Game Pass covers that board's one game, so it is only offered on single-game boards; a One Month Pass or One Year Pass covers every board you host for as long as it is active.
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and other payment methods supported by Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay where available.

Yes, you can make edits after you create your game. To edit game settings, click on the edit icon in the top right corner of the game info or game grid cards. Note: Once you generate numbers for the board, only the host can make changes.
A board locks once the numbers have been set. At that point, only the host can make board updates.
As the host, you can assign numbers (0-9) to the rows and columns in two ways: click the edit icon on the game grid to manually enter or adjust the numbers, or use the "Randomize Numbers" button on the game page to automatically generate random numbers. Both methods work great—choose whichever you prefer! Only the host can make changes from that point.
Yes. A One Month Pass or One Year Pass unlocks every board you host for as long as it is active, so you can run as many as you like — one per party, one per week, or a whole season's worth. A One Game Pass covers a single board's game, so hosting another game means buying again.
Share your game link or QR code. Players open the link, tap the squares they want, and enter their name and email — the squares are theirs right away. There's no account to create and no code to wait for. We email each player a confirmation with their squares and a link back to the board, so they can manage them from any device. If you set a board password, players need that too.
Yes. The quickest way is the link in your confirmation email — open it on the new device and you're back on your board. You can also open the game link, tap one of your squares, and enter the same email; we'll send you a 6-digit code to confirm it's you. Your squares are tied to your email, so they follow you from device to device.
Open the game link and tap any available square — tap several if you want more than one. Then enter your name and email, agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy, and hit claim. The squares are saved immediately, and a confirmation email follows with the details. You can also use "Continue with Google" instead. If that email address already has a Play Squares account, we'll ask for your password or email you a 6-digit code first, so nobody can claim squares as you. Players can join and pick squares up until the host generates numbers. Once numbers are set, only the host can make changes.
This is up to you as the host. We make it easy to see which players have the relevant squares for each game mode, but ultimately it's up to you.
Reversal scores are an optional feature that adds extra winners to your game. If enabled, the reverse score (swapping the digits) also wins. For example, if the score is 14-7, both (4, 7) and (7, 4) would win. This doubles the excitement and gives more players a chance to win!
Only for custom or untracked games. League games (NFL, NBA, NCAA) update automatically.
Absolutely! The app is fully mobile-optimized and works great on phones and tablets. It's perfect for in-person parties — players can scan QR codes and join games directly from their phones. The interface is designed mobile-first for the best experience.
Yes, an internet connection is required to create games, join games, and receive real-time updates. The app needs connectivity to fetch live scores and sync game state across all participants.
If you signed up with email and password, use the "Forgot Password" link on the sign-in page. If you signed up with Google, you'll need to reset your password through Google's account settings.
Currently, email changes need to be processed manually. Please contact us at playsmarttechnologyllc@gmail.com with your current email and the new email you'd like to use, and we'll help you update your account.
No. A board runs exactly the same with nothing riding on it, because the square price and the prizes are optional when you set it up and a board that leaves them blank simply doesn't show them. Plenty of groups play purely for bragging rights. If yours does decide on something, that stays between you and your players. The host pass is the only thing you ever pay Play Squares for.
No. We provide the platform to make your squares experience as smooth as possible: live scores, winner detection, instant updates. You handle the rest your way by adding the payment details you already use, setting your rules, and keeping it simple.

Play Squares is a digital board for friends, coworkers and fundraisers. It is a scoreboard and an organizer for a game people already play together, and we never hold or hand out prize money ourselves.
